Things I've Learned - Week 9

Writer's picture: Maggie TateMaggie Tate
  • Getting tied up to a fixed dock in Florida can be a real challenge. We should have done some lasso practice when Julia had her steer.

  • If someone describes water as "sporting" - it's crazy out there. Don't go.

  • Mooring balls are great in theory and if all conditions are really good. Otherwise, not so much.

  • Dolphins still give us delight.

  • Pelicans are marvelous.

  • Manatees have marching molars (they continue to sprout new ones in the back and as the ones in the front fall out they move up like a conveyor belt.)

  • Fort Pierce has an incredible farmers market.

  • People we have met are really wonderful and generous.

  • Old friends make new places feel like home.
